Brief history

The Southlake area was settled as a farming community in the 1840s, but was not officially incorporated until 1956, four years after the construction of Grapevine Lake. After the opening of DFW Regional Airport in 1974, Southlake experienced a major population boom throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. In 2008, the U.S. Census Bureau鈥檚 American Community Survey named Southlake America鈥檚 鈥淩ichest City.鈥
